In an effort to fulfill professional responsibilities, I was assigned to lead a group as part of our building-wide technology professional development. Having experience using blogger in my classroom for several years, I provided instruction to my colleges on how to set up a student blog to use in the classroom. Throughout the year, I lead several group sessions and assisted individual teachers with setting up a blog to use in their classrooms.
Supervising and participating in school sponsored events has always been one of the perks of teaching. It's fun to see kids and parents in interacting at these events. I have served as a judge at our school Science Fair many times, and I love listening to the kids explain their projects and how they went about doing their experiments.
I have also organized Hoyt Family Literacy Nights both at Hoyt and at Barnes & Noble. At Barnes & Nobel, I organized scavenger hunts within the store, introducing students to popular book titles and award-winning authors.
At Hoyt, I have also helped supervise Family Comic Book Night, Winter Blast Game Night, as well as band and orchestra concerts.

Involvement with school-wide activities and community events is important professional expectation. This is an excerpt from the speech I have for the 2012 National Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony. I was asked to be the keynote speaker and talk to the students and their parents about the significance of being a great student leader. What many students and parents never realized, is that only moments before the ceremony was to begin, the computer crashed and I lost everything but the introduction to my speech.
